The Polo GTI makes a strong comeback. This GTI boasts to have 132 kW / 180 PS and it has superior handling properties unified with uncompromising engine dynamics and a maximum of safety.
The high-tech features don’t just end there. This Polo is powered by a new 1.4-liter TSI with petrol direct injection plus turbo- and supercharging. A 7-speed DSG, which transfers power to the front wheels, is standard equipment. The tendency to understeer is reduced due to an electronic transverse differential lock (XDS). Continued after the jump!
Handling is also improved, especially when quickly driving through curves. The Polo GTI is offered in either a three-door or a five-door version. This car is extremely agile and extremely efficient. The Polo GTI, which weighs 1,194 kg, is able to accelerate to 100 km/h in only 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 229 km/h.
One fact that makes this Polo GTI extraordinary is that along with its performance features, it is the most fuel-efficient and lowest emitting GTI ever. It has a combined fuel consumption of 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers. This is equivalent to CO2 emissions of only 139 g/km. By comparison, its direct predecessor, which was also equipped with a 180 PS 1.8-litre turbo engine, consumed 7.9 liters per 100 kilometers (equivalent to 188 g/km CO2).
This makes the new car about 25% more fuel-efficient. The GTI is also the first Polo to be available with bi-xenon headlights including cornering light, LED daytime running light and corner marker light as well as a panoramic tilt/slide sunroof.
