Range Rover Evoque might receive Ford’s EcoBoost engine

Range Rover EvoqueThe Range Rover Evoque is speculated to include the new 200bhp light-pressure turbo Ecoboost engine from Ford as one of its key powerplants.

Land Rover has yet to comment on this report but it’s believed that this engine is being tested in a fleet of prototypes on the Nürburgring before it will be revealed in the Paris auto show next month. With this 200bhp Ecoboost, the Evoque is expected to have a decent turn of speed. The Mondeo becomes capable of sprinting from zero to 60mph in 7.9secs and of hitting a top speed of 144mph. It is also compatible with the Ford/Getrag six-speed clutchless Powershift transmission, which would provide Land Rover with a state-of-the art powertrain for its new baby Range Rover. It’s anticipated that urban drivers of the Evoque will be appreciative of this combo’s ease of driving and fuel economy. When used in the Mondeo, the Ecoboost is rated at 36.6mpg and 179g/km. These figures are comparable to those of the stop-start diesel Freelander.
