The fact that the government loaned GM money is vastly overblown, the truth is that GM is doing well so far at paying back the money way ahead of time to get from under that cloud…so I think we can let that go as I highly doubt they have any real involvement in what GM is doing outside of overseeing expenditures by executives.
The picture of the Volt in front of Nissan’s headquarters is a little confusing though as Nissan has only offered one hybrid and that is the
Altima. The Altima is only offered in a few states in limited production and the Leaf is fully electric for local use.
The Volt is a gas/electric that will only run for 40 miles on a charge before the gas motor comes on to provide enough charge to run on…a good idea, but not a direct competitor to the Leaf, perhaps an attack would have been better mounted against Toyota since they have created the current crop of gas/electric hybrids including the Altima’s technology.
