  3. @JoeyM: Talk about looking out for your fellow man. Props to POSracing, I’m sure someone will help you guys out. I’m sure the added karma won’t hurt for LeMons either.

I want to be Bill Caswell when I grow up.

  5. @wild7s: Van Sarockin, rogue got a point. Where is the shout-out from Bill himself? The main reason I read the article to find out who helped him out. Only word was from Breamo themselves, otherwise we would not have known.

Although I have no idea if it’s actually live at the moment. The page is woefully uninformative.

  16. @Van Sarockin, rogue trebuchet: Before you start condemning people, you should read the comments boxes in the very posts you’re talking about.

Quick, informative updates and pictures were given by Breamo; in the comments boxes.

Short answer: POSRacing is now Bill’s personal Jesus.

  23. Just a couple of concerns: Doesn’t it need some sort of wheel covers to keep dust at bay? And how does it expect to survive without kidneys?

  32. @lilwillie: I thought I remember reading before that the plan was to replace the 2.5 inline 6 from the E30 with an E39′s 4.0 V8… Dunno if that actually ended up happening.

Another earlier report also stated (if my memory is correct) that the E30 you see above was not much more than a parts car for his ‘real’ Rally E30, so there wasn’t a tremendous amount of original E30 to begin with.

  33. With such a close finish makes you wonder if he’s even had any wheel time yet. I hope the wheels stay on.

Lemons team POSracing loaned him their trailer. Now they need to rent one so they can get THEIR car to buttonwillow

  35. It looks pretty nice. I wonder if some big-name rally team thought about giving him a contract or something.

(for those who don’t want to click):

Update: We just got Bill and his team dialed in with our LeMons Team Trailer from POSRacing. The guys just left the shop, after pulling another all nighter, and are now on their way to Baja. Good Luck guys…. (now we need a trailer for Buttonwillow….. Anyone?)

  37. Good luck, Bill! No matter where you place in the 1000, you’re already a winner!

  38. Is it still RWD only? What’s he done to the engine?

    So many questions!

    Coreboy

  39. So who donated the truck and trailer to get him there? This is one aspect that leads me to be a bit less than enthusiastic about his efforts – lot’s of people pitch in to help him succeed in his hare brained scheme, but almost no one gets credit.

Last posting said he was stranded in SD with no way to get across the border, and needed someone to loan him a trailer on faith. So, what happened and who was involved? Those are the heroes in this segment of the saga.

  41. What I find amazing, is not only did he complete it, but it passed inspection. That man deserves a shrine in the “real man” hall of fame.

Sarcasmo – trying to plan the insane

  42. Good for him. Glad to see him living the dream.

Few questions if you could answer them. How much E30 is left of the car? Is it unibody only? Transmission, engine? Sure looks it from the pictures and stories to this point.

I ass-u-me from the pictures all the suspension, brake and chassis should be purpose made for off road use. Same for the fuel cell and system.

And also, who hauled him down so we can give them a “atta boy”?

    lilwillie

  43. Wow. We all strive to be half the man that Bill Caswell is.

  44. Bill, you are my hero. Good luck and God Speed!
