Are they like the Roman’s with the Spartacus uprising? Kill them in the most public way possible to show “The stance of the nation”?

  12. If the Volt turns out to be a game changer (as in it ushers in a new era of electric vehicles), than it could be worth some major cash in the future.

  17. Paying the asking price of 40 grand is total CP, but the bids were for charity for the Detroit public shcool system, not just the car itself, nothing CP about that. They need the cash.

  18. @whatclutch?: Hahahahaha I seriously want to know this bro’s story. What happened to him after he backed out? Who is he? Why did he bid? Etc.

  21. @imaeffinginger: I am not sure myslef, but its safe to say that the stripe cost the general public around $100,000 to design/engineer!

  22. @superflanker00su: At least if you burned the money, your only out the $225,000.

The owner will have to maintain the vehicle, insure it, and pay that hefty monthly OnStar® fee every month!

  23. They should have sent the proceeds to Detroits biggest charity…

  24. @2xwishbonz: Yep, and no amount of money is going fix that. The heartbreaking truth is that with no one to care for these kids at home, most of them just don’t have a chance.

And it’s not just poor kids either. Deadbeat parents are deadbeat parents.

  29. @From a Buick 6: Almost every school in the country gets federal funding. Unfortunately, the effects of severe poverty and drug abuse on cities like Detroit mean that most kids start school way behind where they should be and can’t catch up because nobody at home gives a shit about their education, there are no books in the house, and the TV is turned up all the way to drown out the gun shots.
