This is the absolute, no-question, not-gonna-happen-again (maybe) last poll. Your clicks have changed the course of (unabashedly geeky video-game) history, and we thank you for your effort. Now, however, is the time to charge. This is your Charles Lindbergh moment — will you get to the windmill at the end of Roosevelt Field, hear the groan of your fuel-filled wings, and bail, or will you climb triumphantly into the sky, nose pointed for Le Bourget and the screams of a million Lindy-mad frogs?

1. Voting is all but over. The top fifteen cars from this poll will be submitted to Microsoft’s Turn 10 Studios for processing. This right here is the one that counts — this is your chance to climb the ziggurat of greatness and knock back the pretenders to the throne. If you want a specific car to win, you have to get others to vote for it. (And if you’re going to cheat, cheat in a way that we’ll never pick up on. 30,000 fake Ford Probe voters from Wednesday, this means you.)
2. We will say it again: We cannot stop democracy, and we cannot close Pandora’s box. Forza 3 is a pretty dang popular game, and the Internet is a very, very big place. If you want to be a lame cheeseface, then you can vote for lame cheeseface cars. If you have a soul and a semblance of human feeling, you will vote for Commenter Golden Ticket cars. Yes, we’re trying to sway the polls. Yes, we’re reducing the essence of this site to a piece of propaganda. Yes, we have an unholy love for the Mercedes-Benz 6.3 and the Volvo 240. That is all.

I need to be heard, because I stand for all that is good in this world. I stand for everything that should be heard, nay for everything that MUST be heard. I stand for cars like the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R, the Volvo T5-R, the Toyota MR-2 SC, the Mazda RX-3, and my last dying hope, the Subaru WRX STi Type-R.
I speak on their behalf, because these cars are cars that belong in a game like Forza. I want you to be honest with me: If you fired up Forza and you bought a Pontiac Fiero, which mod would you do to it first? If you said “Swap the terrible engine out so that I can also make sure the wiring harness is fixed and won’t catch fire and burn all of the vehicles occupants,” you were correct. If you buy a Delorean, what would you change? The engine. I need only mention the terrible atrocity that came when Gran Turismo added horseless carriages and Prius Concepts with CVTs to illustrate my point.
The cars we need are the cars that don’t find in most race games, not the cars that you wish would stop leaking oil onto your front lawn and killing the grass. We need cars like the Sunny to remind us that AWD does not equate to weight, and that speed can be had for less. We need cars that remind us where we came from, not cars that make me weep with their terrible handling and require a motor swap and a life insurance policy just to enjoy myself.
TL:DR — I am an internet crazy, one who wanted to e-mail someone else about how angry he is that people on the internet are voting for cars like the Fiero over cars like an original MR2 SC. No one understands me, and I will never get to drive a Sunny GTI-R. I know it’s not your fault, but I figured you’d at least grasp my insane devotion.

I voted for the beloved 1973 BMW 2002 Turbo, but really had my heart to vote for the 1977 Mazda RX-3SP… Soooo… it was bumped off the charts by the FIERO and PROBE?!? WTF?

Soooo… Let me get this straight. The 6.3, 242 and the Starion are all on life support with the AMC laying next to them, the 507 has flatlined alongside the 356 and the Falcon GTHO, the Buick GSX (aka “The Hemi Killer”) is MIA as are the E28 M5 and the Alfa GTV6 while really quirky cars (Any older Citroen [2CV & DS, please], the Tatra T613 [google it, it looks like a flipping flying saucer and it has a rear-mounted, air cooled V8 that sounds like the bastard child of a Porsche engine and a SBC on crack]) never made the list to begin with.
Oh, but we’ve still got a chance of ending up with 3 cars that there are already examples of in-game (the CRX, the STi [hell, I OWN a STi and I think this is moronic], the 240SX [there's a Silvia there already...] and a 240z [there's a Z432 in the game, too], a (censored)-ing Ford Probe (why, God? Why!?), a POS Toyota (will this one suffer from bouts of sluggish-but-relentless acceleration without authorization from the helm, perchance?), and BOTH the Syclone and Typhoon (yes, they were awesome. But both? They’re the same damn thing ferchrissake. Pick one. Not two. One.).
I’m certainly not blaming the core Jalopnik user/commenter base; most people around here ‘get it’. I’m blaming the passersby that call themselves car enthusiasts. *eyeroll* Ah well. “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers” as the saying goes.

@Vanus: That’s why it’ll probably get through anyway. Games like this always have upteen-billion variations of the WRX, Evo, and Skyline, because they basically amount to boilerplate. It’s very easy and lazy programming to add a variant of those and call it “another car” to inflate the total. That’s why if either the Typhoon or Syclone make it, I would expect to see the other as well.

Wow, it was much harder to pick these last five, since most of my favorites missed the final vote. In the end, I had to drop the DB4 because I’d probably rather look at it [in the game] than drive it…
I’m a bit disappointed in some of the cars on this final list.
I mean: Probe GTS? Seriously, my parents had a late-model, V6 with a 5speed and it was a blast to drive… But as a selection in Forza? Over weird and wonderful exotica?!
And will you people stop voting DeLorean already? Very kitschy, very 80′s, iconic and all that. I hear they suck to drive: slow, with poor handling.
Go buy a Back To The Future poster, hang it on your wall, and vote for the Lancia or one of the Benzes.

I will once again make a note of how terrifically sad I am that none of the Alfa Romeos made the final cut. That said, there are still a number of outstanding autos in this final group and I think at least 3 out of the final 5 will be keepers.

The 205 T 16 because this was among the first truly batshit crazy cars that I really lusted over, with little or no hope of ever even seeing in person let alone driving. Still, I had visions of lining up on Woodward one night in a French subcompact spitting flames out of its ass, and when the people in the 5.0L Mustangs laughed at me I would shut them down and THEN go tearing across the center median, through the ditch and over the fields because I not only have massive power, I have SUSPENSION TRAVEL, BITCHES. Somehow these visions all ended up with me dating Winona Ryder.

The Sierra Cossie because it was equally nuts, and because when people would speak reverentially about the E30 M3 I’d say, Oh yeah? You know what they have in Europe? Please as you click on your CRX or 240sx or 240z that you’re just filling the game with cars that are technically already there. Please realize that Jalopnik stands for everything that isn’t normal with the current car culture. We the commenters make this site as much as the writers and editors and that when we say Volvo 242 or Saab 99 we don’t say it because we want cars that suck or are worthless but because we want our character to be a part of the Forza world.
So when you vote today please don’t vote for a car that is already there or that you can get in droves in GT but for one that the commenters have been ranting about for days in these posts and realize that you are joining a community of people who truly love cars, not just common cars but beautiful and quirky cars.
242, 99, 037, Cosworths and Escorts, Starion, Pantera. Any of those are Jalop and safe bets.

Clearly the process wasn’t right from the start as you had to keep feeding the cars you and readers want back into the pool after they were shot down massively.
I’m not saying I have the magic formula, and someone would have pissed no matter what, but it seems to me like this would have worked better if the initial pool of cars wasn’t full of boring cars and cars almost exactly the same as ones already in the game.
This was your shot to get a list of quirky cars into a videogame. Instead, looks like we’re getting another 240Z and CRX.
At least that’ll save Turn10 some scanning time.

The RS2 is the only other car that I really, really, really wanted to see in Forza, but the fact that the 6.3 Benz has a chance gives me some hope.

I’m still mad that the Tiger-Escalade wasn’t an option. Just imagine trying to race with a cracked windshield in the front, three hookers at the back, and a half naked swedish model trying to kill you. My thinking is that we should get cars in that aren’t normally found in the games — cars that, like most of us here, are more fun driving at 10/10ths than the ones that are simply too easy to drive. That said, this was a very, very difficult list from which some had to be eliminated. In order of my preference:

I’m realizing now what the main problem with the polling was – the cars should have been separated out into themed categories in the first round to avoid the same sort of cars ending up advancing (no Typhoon AND Syclone, no multiple generations of M5, etc). You could have had a Rally Homologation Special flight, a Factory Racer flight, an Attainable Performance flight, a Muscle flight, an Exotica flight, and an Automotive Oddities flight, and taken the top few from each. That would have ensured more variety and at least a little touch of weirdness instead of letting the predictable archetypes rise to the top.

I raised my voice for the Dodge Omni GLHS once, and I will do it again. If you love anything about the cars Jalopnik identifies with, you will vote for this car.
There is one other car on this list that needs to make the top five, and as much as it pains me to say it, if it means not voting for the Omni, do so. The Peugot 205 T16. This is perhaps the single most jalopnik car on the list. Even moreso than the ‘held together by glue, testoserone and turbo’ Omni.
Group B has to be one of the most Jalopnik racing series that has existed on planet Earth. The Peugot was one of the fiercest contenders in the series. This vehicle…is the tame version you could park in your very own garage to show off how frugal you are buying a hatchback. A hatchback on PCP, speed, steriods.
It is an ugly car. Nearly ever car in Group B was ugly. It’s what made them so very awesome. The Peugot was very ugly. It’s like a pug. Pugs are ugly dogs. Very ugly. Some people love them, but they have to admit…they’re ugly. Now let’s take that pug and give it the most insane, flaming huge case of hemerhoids to ever exist. A case that would make a baboon blush. When this pug unleashed a fury of blood infused farting fury, it could tear across the block in record speed. That is the Peugot 205 T16. It’s an ugly-ass hatchback with pure insanity jammed tightly into its ass to give it more go than should be possible.
If you have a heart. If you have a soul. Vote for the Peugot. If you still have some heart and soul left over. Vote for the Omni.
If not? The plebes among us will pack our game full of sleek, lithe 90′s luxury and supercars. We’ve raced these plenty of times. How often do we get a chance to race these other classics?

The first-gen RX7 finally had an opportunity to make it into a mainstream videogame in the common era (GT2 is old-school now), and you guys dropped the ball.
Were all of the cars that made it through to the final round really more worthy? What about that ’92 240SX? Or a Ford fucking Probe?
A Probe. Think about what you’ve done. You fools promoted a fucking Probe over a car with serious motorsports cred and history. When the RX7 first came to our shores, it changed the game for Mazda. It moved them from a car manufacturer, to a sports car manufacturer, and arguably paved the way for the Miata era and Mazdaspeed as we know it. The car made so much possible that you all know and love, and this is how you repay it? By telling it you value a ’97 fucking Probe or a ’92 240SX over something the SCCA deems worth of its own spec class. Yet you miscreants don’t think it’s worthy of a video game appearance.
