Want to test a plug-in? Think Enterprise

Want to test out a plug-in vehicle, such as the Chevy Volt or the Nissan Leaf, before buying. Think Enterprise.

On the fence with a Leaf purchase? Rent one for a few days.

Largest plug-in car fleet in California

Many years ago, when the Toyota Prius was just in its second generation, many potential Prius consumers just weren’t sure what they thought about hybrids. Back in those days I often used to recommend renting a Prius, or another hybrid, for a few days to test the vehicle out.

Fortunately, Enterprise is quickly ramping up its plug-in fleet, giving potential consumers a great way to put a plug-in through the paces of their daily life before making a purchase.

Unfortunately, most Enterprise plug-ins are found in California, but since California is the critical plug-in market, that shouldn’t be too surprising. Consequently, plug-ins can be rented in Encino, Newport Beach, Ontario, Palm Springs, Pasadena, Riverside, San Diego, San Franciso, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica and Thousand Oaks.

Costs are about $65 per day and their are no penalties for returning rented plug-ins with less than a full charge.

Currently, Enterprise rents the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf, and some Coda electrics will be added to the fleet soon.

While not as extensive, Enterprise also leases plug-in vehicles in Hawaii, Seattle, Portland, New York, North Carolina, Texas and Tennessee, and will soon expand to Arizona and Florida.
