TORRANCE, California — Lexus cuts right to the chase in its first-ever Super Bowl ad, a 30-second spot called “The Beast” that focuses on the new 2013 GS sedan.

Unlike some of the sexier, sillier spots that are being spun by competitors, the Lexus commercial is straightforward, if not downright staid. It shows the GS breaking out of a metal box in a laboratory, with a voiceover proclaiming that the new car “cannot be contained.”

The ad, according to Lexus, illustrates “the company’s move in a new design direction for the brand.”

Toyota’s premium brand also noted that the commercial “hints at the additional new vehicles Lexus will unveil later in the year, which are waiting in the wings for their turn to burst onto the scene.”

Inside Line says: No dogs, no bikinis, no baby poop. Sorry.
