BEIJING — Ford is beefing up its offerings in the China market, saying on Thursday that it will launch the Edge here by the end of 2010 and introduce its EcoBoost engine technology in the Ford Mondeo lineup. The automaker made the announcements at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show, where it also displayed the Ford Start concept.

The Dearborn automaker said a 2.0-liter EcoBoost-powered version of the Ford Mondeo will be introduced in China before the end of 2010. It is the first time that China will get an EcoBoost engine. “The 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost inline-4 is the first engine in the EcoBoost lineup to go truly global,” said Ford in a statement. The technology bundles direct fuel injection and turbocharging for better fuel economy.

Ford also noted that it was pulling out all the stops for its display at the Beijing show, noting that the Ford stand is “its largest ever in China, with 17 interactive stations.”
