TORRANCE, California2012 Super Bowl viewers could score a victory of their own during the game with a contest that enables them to use a mobile app to win a new 2012 Toyota Camry for themselves and another one for a friend, a prize valued at more than $53,000.

The “pay it forward” contest is about creating bonds between Camry owners, an extension of Toyota’s “Camry Effect” campaign, a social-media initiative developed to unite the nearly 7 million Camry owners across the United States. Camry owners can go online to share their Camry stories — moments and memories from the past 30 years, to when the vehicle was first introduced in America.

To bring attention to the campaign, Toyota will debut its “Connections” ad during halftime. It offers a visual reference to the contest, while showing a handful of big life moments that took place in a Camry, including a marriage proposal, losing a first tooth and bringing home a four-legged best friend.

There are two ways to enter. Adults must download the Shazam mobile app and then visit Toyota.com/CamryEffect and follow the on-screen instructions to tag audio during play of the 30-second “Connections” ad. Or to enter without the app, entrants must visit the Web site and follow on-screen instructions.

Participants may enter once a day leading up to the halftime debut of the commercial, as well as enter again by using Shazam or entering online when the spot airs live on Sunday.

Inside Line says: Sharing the wealth with a friend may be a bigger bonus than a Super Bowl ring.
