GM announces the formation of a new car brand in China

The 1 Billion plus people in China need something to drive, right?

China’s elite are already snapping up luxury cars by the boat load. From Ferrari’s, to Cadillac’s, premium brands are going into overdrive, just to keep up with the demand.

The populous need something to drive too. But, they’re more concerned about price, than rear legroom.

To that end, GM is partnering with SAIC and Wuling Motors to introduce a value-brand of cars.

Called Baojun, (the name literally means ‘treasured horse’). The new cars will be developed at SAIC’s Pan Asia Technical Automotive Centre in Shanghai, and sold through the respective partners distribution networks.

However, no word yet on the new brand’s launch date.
