A production version of the Morgan Aero Coupe will make debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Unlike the previous versions which were produced in limited numbers, this 2013 variant will form the base lineup for the marque.
The new model will be based on the GT3 Aero race car, and sport a BMW-sourced 4.8-litre V8 with power in the range of 390hp. Construction of the body and chassis is limited to aluminium only, which should tip the scales at less than 2,600 pounds (1,180kg). Morgan claims that manual transmission variants will come in 4.5 seconds for the century sprint, with automatic cutting the timing by a further 0.3 seconds.
In addition to the Aero Coupe, a revamped Morgan Roadster and an all-new Morgan Plus 8 will also turn up at the motor show. It is said that the engine will be shared among the variants. With Morgan among the last few survivors of traditional British sportscar builder, not to mention the interests stirred by the previous models, it leaves much to be anticipated at this year’s Geneva show.
