Join Auto Express on a 700-mile roadtrip from Spain to the UK in a new BMW M5. We’ve already tested the new BMW M5 both on track and on road. And yes, with a 552bhp twin-turbo V8 it has incredible performance. But what is it like to live with and how does it cope over really long distances? Is the new BMW M5 really the continent-slayer its predecessor — with its limited range, manic engine and firm suspension — failed to be? There’s only one way to find out: a mammoth road test from the Pyrenees in northern Spain all way back to the UK. Read more about it here: www.autoexpress.co.uk
1:27 watch the van trying to pass the BMW
Van guy: come on! move that piece of (…) out of my way!!
@Wash9102 I am pretty sure it will have a V6 because I saw the video of it……
hey i found MaTTT!!
@krunal467 You don’t know what engine the F10 series M3 will house, and I’m pretty sure it won’t be a V6 either. BMWs are known for their inline 6 cylinder engines.
Mat you are the top reviewer in car buyer and not only. But Rebbeca is now a breath away from you.So if you want your loyal crowd you better go back to carbuyer!
Fuel cap has a place to put it not against the paint!
Thats not a english car, things are well made!
What is the music from 5:17 on? Really brilliant.. Thanks
@timothyln12 he hasn’t left
I want the V10 back in the ///M5 and the V8 back in the ///M3 instead of the V8 & V6 respectively!
This guy is seriously a good reviewer.
Matt go back to carbuyer!
Great review, as always Mat!
The transition is the cheesiest thing ever.
Is this mpg from the britains or US ?
Because in britich mpg it means 28.8mpg is like 23,98mpg (US) which means 9.81 l/100km at 70mph constant speed (which means 112 km/h)
Sry, but u can not be serious by saying this is impressive number, can u?
SHIT, I LOVE THIS CAR!!
@MrRiddicules No harm in that. I’m not gonna tell you how to live your life. However, the M5 is like no other 5 series. I can only base my statement off the E60 M5 vs the E60 530i, and there is a huge difference. Regarding the F10 M5, some say it feels like a completely different model, completely unrelated.
Then again, I’d say most who can afford an F10 M5 can afford to buy “a sporty little devil” as well.
Mat I found you!!! Why’d u leave carbuyer?
1M+535d=M5
@NickJayKay ……..Exactly, it is the auto carrier for the Channel Tunnel or Chunnel train from Calais, France to some small town outside of London. It is called the Eurostar…………bad ass fast and not particularly cheap.
Great point at the end. I’d get a 1M and a 520d for the same money as one M5 any day!
Did he just drive onto a train at the end!?
@200208195 well, I am a huge fan of the 5 series, but I simply feel that they are too big, to comfortable, to quiet, to distant,…for a truly sporty/fun feel. They are, however at home on long trips, highways and even on the occasional twisty road. But I simply don’t see the point in having 500 + horsepower in a car of this type and would prefer two cars in my stable: a comfy limousine and a sporty little devil
but that’s just me
@MrRiddicules Yes and no. The M5 has a higher finish quality and is more comfortable than the 1 M coupe and the 520d, also, you don’t need to run home after dropping the kids off at school before heading off to the hills/track/where ever.
That said, if you wanted to run home all the time, be my guest.
man…I understand how we all have our own different tastes, but it hurts to see an M5 that’s not a 6-speed manual. All that’s doing it providing statistics to BMW saying that less and less people are actually buying 6-speed manuals which would equate to removing the manual as an option in the years to come. You can’t even get 535s with a manual anymore…would hate to see this happen to the M5.
